july 29, 2009 Hi Bob! On today's walk with Ostara, we were walking around town, passed pedestrians, children laughing, bikes, motorcycles, a lawnmower, basketball players, and another dog. We walked up and down Broad Street (the main drag), then down again on the opposite side of the street. All along the way, we received smiles (well, actually, the DOG got the smiles- Stephania and I were invisible for the most part- lol). As we continued walking along, we came upon a lady who was sitting outside eating her lunch. She said, "I am glad you came back this way- I watched you walk all the way up the street and back this way, and I have to compliment you on having such a well behaved dog! It was such a pleasure to watch! I wish my dog was like that!" (I told her about you, of course, & gave her your web address) . THEN... we went to the vet for a follow up visit. She saw him last about 5-6 weeks ago. The vet was very pleased with her good behavior- Ostara didn't bark, was not nervous in the least, received her vaccination without any problem at all- she even kissed the vet's face! He said she is a different dog. When we left, he said, "Great job, keep up the good work!" Stephania and I were so happy, and I could not wait till Saturday to tell you. Attached is a picture of Ostara on her walk today- See you 11am Saturday! Thanks for your great training advice! -Sylvia WE WELCOME YOU TO VIEW OUR TRAINING SESSIONS BEFORE YOU SIGN UP! free evaluations!

TACOMA, WASHINGTON NEW JERSEY Christine and Terry
Christine and Terry Having been an admirer of German Shepherds my whole life I finally decided it was time to finally own one of my own. I was always under the impression it should be like every other one that you see on television. My wife and i did extensive research and interviewed many breeders searching for what we thought would be the best shepherd for our family. Time and time again when we left the breeder we found flaws, problems, and other things that left us worried about what kind of dog we would end up with. Then by luck we met Bob from HVK9. We spoke with Bob for about 3 hours. He showed us all of his credentials, spoke about his background in these dogs, and training, and even did a demo with Kilo. When my wife and I left we both said that our search was over. We had found a breeder who was not only as concerned maintaining the highest quality for this type of breed but also in your satisfaction with the puppy that you would have. We committed to Bob for a puppy and waited a year for our dog. Now nearly 2 years later I know that the GSD that i have is far superior to most of the dogs from this breed that i have seen. He is far more confident in any situation that he encounters than others and his loyalty is unmatched. Cruger will do anything that i ask of him and no matter what the situation he is by my side. The genetics of Bob's dogs is unequaled and his wisdom unmatched. Thanks Bob for everything and if you want a GSD please be rest assured that you can't get a better one than 1 from HVK9. Terry and Christine Liz and "Rufus" of VALLEY COTTAGE, NY
Liz and "Rufus" of VALLEY COTTAGE, NYI am so glad that I found Bob. It couldn’t have happened at a better time. Rufus, my chocolate lab, had gotten so big. When we started Rufus was 13 months old and 103lbs. A very stocky “little boy”, who thinks he is still a puppy. I had little control over him. Everything was becoming a challenge, going to the mailbox I thought he would rip my arm off. Just having him listen to me, I was growing more and more frustrated. He knew the basics…sit, down, leave it, etc…but in the real world the only way he would listen to me was when I had treats. The first time we met Bob he took the lead from me and made a joke about the “death grip” I had on it. It was absolutely the truth. I had his leash wrapped around my hands and I held on for my life, trying not to let him drag me that bad. It didn’t work out so well. We had our work cut out for us. Well, by the end of the first session, I just couldn’t believe it. Rufus was actually listening to Bob. He stayed right by Bob’s side. It was as if Rufus knew exactly what Bob wanted from him and what was expected of him. Rufus was on his way to being an obedient dog. Every session was getting better and better. Bob has taught me what I need to do to get the same result from Rufus. This is a challenge, but I’m getting it. I can now take Rufus to the mailbox with me, that is a huge step. I even stand a chance at not getting hurt in pet smart. We are not done with training at all. Rufus is still young and very strong willed, we still have a lot of work to do, but we have come a long way. Thank you Bob!!!
LONG ISLAND, NY Harry of usak9. Harry started off his training career with my trainer's certification course. After 2 yrs. he came back for a 4-week refresher course and the Personal Protection Helpers Course! WE LOVED IT SO MUCH WE WENT BACK FOR MORE! The success from the HVK9 ACAD. Trainers Obedience Course has been outstanding. To further meet our customers demands, I took the HVK9 ACAD. Trainers Protection Course. During the 4-week protection course, Master Trainer Robert Conklin had me join in his ongoing Trainers Obedience Course. It was a great refresher to make sure bad habits or deviations on the techniques were not developed. Robert Conklin set the Trainers Protection Course up to have Harry build prey drive in puppies and young adults along with teaching the foundation of bite work. Robert teaches the safety in handling and building dogs at this level so nobody including the dogs gets hurt. The course had me working with beginner dogs, experienced dogs, (Bob's)highly advanced level 3 dogs, dogs working in prey drive, defense drive, and fight drive. There were extensive lessons on decoy work including how to catch beginner and advance dogs, at what point to out the dog, and how to keep building protection dogs confidence. The dog's were taught a friend command to keep the dogs social and friendly toward everyone. The skills learned in the HVK9 ACAD. course are based on Military, U.S. Custom's k9,Police training and some Schutzhund, French Ring techniques. All of which Robert Conklin has a working background in. The combination of these techniques make this course a phenomenal course for those seeking handler skill, trainer skills, or looking to get their dogs protection trained to real life situations. Working the dogs in the HVK9 ACAD. Trainers Protection course gives handlers a tremendous amount of experience in reading dogs behavior, learning the point of avoidance in any type of training, and building a confident dog with out corporal punishment or threatening techniques. The course also included, training on performing building searches for suspects, long line, and off leash attacks. All without building a lunatic, out of control dog. Me and the dogs involved were taught to react based on the owner being physically attacked and not other discrepancy around the dog and owner. The friendship built in this course has led us share many of the photos between the HVK9 ACAD. and USA K9 photo gallery’s. We will be doing decoy work with HVK9 ACAD. including, tune up protection classes, Level I, II, III, protection. You will find more information on k9 protection services under the training section of our service page. MARY HAS THIS TO SAY ABOUT HVK9 ACAD'S DOGS. SHE OWNS TWO OF HVK9'S GERMAN SHEPHERDS. BRAUHNSUN IS 4 YEARS OLD AND IS THE SON OF KILO AND V. HAUS HVK-NINES KENDRA. KALYN IS THE 7-MONTH OLD DAUGHTER OF KALEN z GALLI AND XANO V HAUS HVK-NINE ACAD. See her dogs in the Gallery #1 section. I just love these dogs!!!! I have been working Kalyn on a regular program , and she is doing very well. She is so athletic. I want more than anything to send along Kilo's and Brauhnsun's willingness, and working abilities. The looks and brains, just says it for itself. You will love this one. She was on top of a wood shavings pile. The pile is over 10 feet high with a very slippery silver tarp covering it. She is completely focused. She waits for me to give her the command to fetch a traffic cone that I have set up. One command and she retrieves the cone and brings it back to me. Congratulations on the great job you are doing with these dogs. Everyone comments on them no matter where I go. They remain sound and alert in every situtation, willing to protect me if needed, yet greeting everyone with their tail wagging. Thank you! INDIAN SPRINGS, NY HERB AND ENED DAKOTA had his first session with HVK9 when he was 8-months old and weighed eighty pounds. His high energy and strength was becoming a major concern for us. The first lesson with Bob Conklin changed everything. It keeps getting better. Now he listens to instructions with a happy to learn attitude. When puppy hood takes over and distractions dominate him, Bob reminds us to back to the basic exercises he taught us with each lesson. "Dakota will always remember what i taught him. I promise you it really works!" GUESS WHAT..IT REALLY DOES! Bob's program is not only a blessing, it is definately a valuable lifetime investment.
 Hey Bob!
I was just looking at the new web site and it looks great! We have been thinking of you and the dogs and hope all is well. Tucker sends his best and is doing very well. I'm so happy that you are still doing what you do, Tucker is the greatest and everyone should have a Tucker or two.
Hope all is well and we we'll see you soon.
All the best,
Anne and John
June 15, 2007 To all, My husband and I have 4 children, ages 10, 9, 5, & 2. We really wanted a good protection dog, especially because of my husband’s late working hours. We had a few break in’s in the neighborhood over a two week period by three men. They were finally caught in a home one night but it was too late, I had already completely stopped sleeping on the nights my husband wasn’t home. How could I protect four children? Every sound was scary. We decided to invest in Annie, a beautiful black German Shepherd from Bob of Hudson Valley K9 Academy in Oct of 2005. We were hopeful that she would live up to all the good things Bob said about her. She did that and more. She’s the most wonderful addition to our family. She sleeps under my side of the bed at night and investigates every sound for me. I know she will protect and take care of my family, she is now the reason I sleep at night. Last spring I had Annie trained by Bob for six weeks. Every time I took her there, she was so excited to see him again. I noticed a difference right away in the first week in training. She would walk beside my leg and turns on a dime with me when we walk. By the end of the six weeks, family and friends couldn’t believe she was the same 9 month old puppy. She was “so attentive, so smart, such a sweet dog” they say. Needless to say my children are all over her whenever they feel like playing with her or “on her”. She loves all the attention she gets from them. My sons play catch with her, and they all love to run around the yard with her. When she’s done playing, she simply walks away, but I have to say, the kids usually get tired first. She is always looking to please me and everyone in the family. When we call her name, she gives us her full attention, waiting to hear what we will want her to do. Annie is the most well tempered, affectionate, happy, eager to please, ready-for-anything dog I’ve ever known. I’ve had countless compliments about her from family, friends and neighbors. They compliment how well she listens, how good natured she is, how beautiful and soft her fur is and most importantly to us, how well she behaves with our children. My neighbors should know, they watch her play outside with the kids countless hours for over a year now. I feel much safer knowing my kids are outside with her too. There is always an article in the paper or report in the news every now and then to remind me how times have changed. It only takes a minute for someone to take a child away, and knowing Annie is with them makes the world of a difference to me and my husband. Thank you Bob. I am looking forward to getting another Germam Shepherd from you in the future, I won’t even consider anyone or anywhere else. Sincerely, Stacy Joswick
